I've been a very bad blogger. I'll be catching up soon with all the summer events in our lives!

4/20/09 - This area has been weeded, mulched & ready for the growing season. I look forward to the bright yellow day lilies blooming and reminisce about the day Sierra and I built this in honor of Gramdma Dot.
4/21/09 - I’ve been watching and waiting and finally Rich spotted the foxes! It’s 2 days later than last year and the kits are so much smaller. Barely visible near Momma’s feet are 2 grayish kits.
4/22/09 - I had suggested to Rich that I would like to grow some veggies this year. We thought an elevated garden would be perfect. He had a rare day off and when I got home from work, the project had begun.

4/16/09 - I found these Jiffy pots in the basement. I thought I had nothing to lose by trying to start some seeds. I spent $1 for a packet of green bell pepper seeds. It may be a little late, but if so, its only $1 lost.
4/17/09 - While I was working in the garden, Camie kept me company. She patiently awaited the next elusive bird.
4/18/09 - Cocoa mulch is the best! The Men’s Garden Club in town sells it as a fund raiser every year but I seem to miss it. This year, I made sure that I got there in time. My garden needs an overhaul!
4/19/09 - I was cleaning out my flower beds today. I was using the trailer to haul the leaves and sticks away. When I emptied everything onto the burn pile, there was a little bull snake in the bottom of the trailer.

They are back!! I've been looking and waiting. You can barely see 2 little ones near Momma's feet. They are so little and still a grayish color. One had just a hint of rust color on its face. This really made my day!

This is my March summary of 365 project photos.

Here's weeks 14 and 15 of my 365 project:
4/2/09 - I found these Rainbow Mums at HyVee. I looked all over town for some flowers but nothing is out yet except at the grocery store.
4/3/09 - Chase, Charlie, and I are going to Indianapolis for the weekend. We are all packed and ready to go.
4/4/09 - Kristin and I spent some time on the Monon Trail today. I rode my bike while Kristin ran. This fish was on a mural on the trail.
4/5/09 - Kristin and Tyler look worried as the lightning and thunder begin right as Sierra’s bike race started. They canceled it after 4 laps.
4/6/09 - The Magnolia trees were in full bloom in Indianapolis. This one was on Marian College campus.
4/7/09 - Camie is snoozing after a full day at home.
4/8/09 - I was doing a tuneup on a friend’s bike. Chase was convinced that the tennis ball on her kickstand was his and worked to get it off.
4/9/09 - I saw this iPhone “app” advertised and bought it immediately! It’s amazing! It is very complete, full of photos and bird songs.
4/10/09 - I found this field of henbit in full bloom on the road to Lake Kahola today. I traveled to see Mother for the weekend.
4/11/09 - Today, Mother and I got 2 push mowers and her riding tractor running. We changed oil, cleaned air filters and charged batteries.
4/12/09 - I haven’t dyed Easter Eggs in a long time. I found a Camo-egg decorating kit at Wal Mart and knew it would be perfect.
4/13/09 - I found this Easter Lily at the grocery store today for only $2. I couldn’t resist it!
4/14/09 - I’m looking for the foxes this year but so far I can’t tell if they are here or not. Something is living here, I just don’t know what.
4/15/09 - The hyacinths are finally in full bloom in my garden in front of the house.

Here's week 13 of my 365 project:
3/26/09 - Camie caught Chase in a weak moment and was able to curl up next to him on the sofa. Chase gets nervous when the cats want to cuddle.
3/27/09 - The deer have been very common this year. Today, there was a group of about 15 in the pine trees down the hill from the house. I didn’t see any fawns. This group was mostly does and one young buck.
3/28/09 - This is the reason that I didn’t travel south to Kansas to visit Mother. The blizzard that was present down in Kansas was this storm for us.
3/29/09 - Since the weather was not good and Rich was working all weekend, I decided to make a pot of beef and noodles. Yum Yum
3/30/09 - Sierra sent me a link to the race report from last weekend. She was especially proud of the team effort to control the road race. She had her best finish of the year - 3rd.
3/31/09 - This year, March did not go out like a lamb. Instead, it went out like a lion with impressive wind gusts thoughout the state.
4/1/09 - Since a sort of restructing in our department at work, Diane was moved to another office. We had a potluck for her today. She loved the rainbow mums and gerbena daisy that we got for her.

3/19/09 - Here’s Miss Kittie and Rich relaxing on the sofa. It’s what they do best.
3/20/09 - The photos were finally done at Walmart. We had to use disposable cameras for the rafting and snorkeling on our trip to the Dominican Republic. I missed the instant gratification that digital cameras provide!
3/21/09 - Becky & Denny came over for Dinner tonight. We had spagetti and garlic bread. Rich gave Becky the Vanilla cigars he got for her while we were in the Dominican Republic.
3/22/09 - Sharlene wanted me to download Skype so we could talk for free. I finally did it today. She noticed me online quickly and we talked for 20 minutes. It was 1240 here, 7 hours later for her in South Africa.
3/23/09 - I noticed that the Forsythia bush was
flowering. It must have just started because I hadn’t noticed any color that way before today. The blossoms were just beginning to appear.
3/24/09 - It rained over two inches last night. We had to pump the water out of the basement.
3/25/09 - Camie & Miss Kittie were playing with this little shrew. I’m not sure which one caught it but they were happily doing their job.

Journaling reads:
3/16/09 - We drove home from Indy today where we had left our 4 cats at “home alone”. This was the scene near the bathroom. We predict the perpetrator was the kitten - Camie
3/17/09 - After using a digital camera for many years now, i’m having a hard time waiting for our snorkeling & rafting photos to be developed. They won’t be ready until Saturday!
3/18/09 - I scanned & emailed this photo to the couple that we met on our rafting trip. Jill & Scott were from Canada & were married here in the Dominican Republic last week.

Journaling reads:
3/12/09 - Today’s tour was a trip to Paradise Island. We traveled by bus to La Isabela, then by speedboat to the island. Then, it was back through the mangroves of Montecristi National Park to Punta Rusia for a homestyle lunch & then by bus back to Puerto Plata.
3/13/09 - Today, we took Outback Safari through the country, visited a typical home, plantation, school, swam in a river, ate lunch, took a river boat ride & went boogie boarding in the ocean near Cabarette.
3/14/09 - Today, I went to Ocean World where the highlight of my day was the dolphin swim. Rich, Kristin, & Tyler went zip lining.
3/15/09 - Today we left for home at 2:30 PM, due to arrive in Indianapolis at 10 PM. We were delayed in Atlanta & got back to Indy at about 11 PM.

Larimar is a stone found only in the Dominican Republic. While on a tour yesterday, Kristin and I spotted a necklace of larimar beads. We thought it was too expensive and left the shop without it. This evening at the hotel, artisans set up their tables in the lobby. We went to browse and spotted another necklace of larimar beads. Again, we felt the price was too high. But we both liked this particular necklace very much. We sent in the expert barterer - Rich. He spent about 15 minutes until finally everyone agreed on a price. Kristin and I decided we would share the necklace. It looks even more beautiful around her neck!

365 Week 10
We're on a trip to the Dominican Republic right now with limited internet access so I'm posting this at least.

2/26/09 - Delilah often goes on walks with us and the dogs. Here she is waiting for us on the fence row.
2/27/09 - The last of my Valentine’s Day bouquet.
2/28/09 - I couldn’t resist getting another orchid. This one is a beautiful pale green.
3/1/09 - The oven was in need of a cleaning since it hadn’t been used in quite some time.
3/2/09 - I baked 2 breakfast casseroles for the “Fill A Tummy, Warm a Heart Campaign” at work. The Salvation Army will serve them to the homeless.
3/3/09 - I pinned my reminder near the door so I wouldn’t forget to take the casseroles to work tomorrow.
3/4/09 - We finally got our malaria prevention prescriptions filled for our trip to the Dominican Republic.

2/19/09 - Sierra sent me this photo of her and new boyfriend, Ethan. They were out with friends at Ike & Jonesy’s in downtown Indianapolis.
2/20/09 - Miss Spitters is waiting patiently for her turn at the food dish.
2/21/09 - I caught this beautiful sunrise on our early morning walk. The sun shone like a beacon straight upward.
2/22/09 - It turned colder again with an ugly wind chill, so I decided it was time for another pot of chili.
2/23/09 - Camie prefers her drinking water straight out of the faucet.
2/24/09 - It’s difficult to throw away our 30 year old hiking boots. We spent the entire summer of 1979 with them during our honeymoon in Alaska.
2/25/09 - It was 60 degrees out today. After work, we decided to take the dogs to the park. When we opened the tailgate of the truck, out jumped the stow away, Miss Kittie.

Thursday: Since I was going to be gone on Valentine’s Day, Rich gave me flowers, a card, and took me out for dinner last night.
Friday: After BMX practice on Friday Afternoon, Maggie tried out the women’s specific bike that I brought. It fit perfectly.
Saturday: We were staying at the Drury Inn in Grove City, OH. where they have free popcorn before dinner. I got this great photo of Thule while he was leaning on my leg begging for a treat.

Sunday: As a Christmas gift for Kristin and Sierra, I gave them tickets to Saltimbanco. Today was the day of the show. They both LOVED the perforance. I saw it for the second time and it was just as good as the first.
Monday: I drove home from
Indianapolis today and found a surpirse in the mailbox from Shelby. Her note said that she found this book and instantly thought of me and my mother.
Tuesday: I gave mountain bikes to 2 members of the BMX team that I belong to, ages 12 and 8. I received these letters from them:
Dear Mrs. Joni: Thank you so much for the mountain bike. I can’t wait until the weather gets better and I get to take it on the trails in the park. Luke and I have been talking about it since my Mom & Dad brought the bike home. Thank you, Logan
Dear Mrs. Joni: Thank you for the new bike. Red is my favorite color. Even though it is a little big. I love riding it, Thank you, Connor
Wednesday: I love orchids! I walked in the door after work today to find this one on the table. Rich had the morning off and found this beauty at Wal Mart.

2/5/09 - Today, it was about 60 degrees outside and Camie enjoyed being out for the first time since her surgery.
2/6/09 - Charlie found this dead squirrel at the dog park. It looks like it is just sleeping.
2/7/09 - Joleen, Christy, and I spent the afternoon at “Dance for Your Heart” doing pulmonary function tests.
2/8/09 - Chase truely enjoys playing in the snow melt at the dog park.

2/10/09 - Who doesn’t love microwave popcorn? This happens to be Orville Redenbacher’s Kettle Corn, that very low calorie snack!
2/11/09 - Here’s my computer screen at work. I get to look at my little foxes everyday. I’m hoping another litter or two is about to be born in our back “40” again this year. I’m anxiously awaiting their arrival.......
2/12/09 - Julie, Tena, and I started working out climbing the stairs before lunch in preparation for the “Power Climb” fundraiser for the American Lung Association. You climb 1000 stairs, 41 floors, or 85 flights on February 22.

January 14, 2009 - Journaling reads: On our train ride up the Verde Canyon, I hear our guide asking someone to please get down off the bench. I look around to see what’s going on and discover she’s talking to my mother! Page kit is 'Home Sweet Home" by Lynn Griffin.

1/16/09 at the Phoenix Zoo. Journaling reads: Here on the Children's Trail, we found the Wallaby Walkabout. After we got the children out of the way, we were able to climb into the Wallaby's pouch for a quick pose. Page kit is "Home Sweet Home" by Lynn Griffin.

I finally got a LO done from our Phoenix vacation. Journaling reads:
Shelby LOVES In-N-Out Burger. On our last evening in Phoenix, she talked us into going one more time. We ordered, took our first bites, then Shelby groaned, “I forgot to take a picture!” So, she went back to the counter and asked if she could take a picture of a freshly made cheeseburger.

GET THIS! They made her another; magazine ready as you can see. Then, after she got her photos, they gave it to her. With pure joy, she proceeded to eat them both!

Here's Week 5 of my 365 project. Thursday brought Camie home from the vet after being spayed. Friday, I traveled through Paducah and the southern ice storm. Saturday, we had dinner at the Grand Ole Opryland hotel. Sunday, Kittie was awarded NBL Volunteer of the Year. Monday, the aftermath of the ice storm. Tuesday, the wood is almost gone. Wednesday, the spot of my first fall this winter.
Here's Week 4 of my 365 project. It starts off with a 40 degree day and a walk "out back". Friday brought the soup challenge of Select Harvest or Progresso. Saturday, we went to one of our favorite restaurants in Lacona, IA with friends Becky and Denny. Sunday brought 4 more inches of fluffy snow. Monday, I started knitting a scarf. Tuesday brought a slide sorting project. Wednesday was Rich's 61st birthday, he got a wind deflector for his truck.

I've decided to take the Project 365 challenge! To me, it's a pictorial diary. So far, I'm enjoying the challenge. It'll make a great album at the end of the year.
