These Indiana gas prices really hurt! I'm sure I'll be saying that a lot since gas doesn't seem to be going down any time soon.

I know this pile doesn't look like much. I cleaned out the back yard, stuffed it into the truck and hauled it off to the dump! I also stuffed 8 trash bags full into the cab of the truck. It was quite the haul and I was glad to have the job done.

I am in Indianapolis for the weekend so Kristin, Sierra and I had brunch at one of our favorite places, The Bagel Deli.

Late this afternoon, a flock of about 20 cedar waxwings hung out in the oak tree by the house. It was hard to get a good shot of any of them because of all the branches. I was very surprised that they stayed in the tree while I walked around the yard to get a better view.

We closed out the safe deposit box and I got to look at my 1984 Olympic coin set for the first time in quite awhile.

As part of planning for a Texas vacation near the end of March, I took a look to see if any of our old windsurfing equipment is water worthy. I think I'll probably take this board down and see if I am still able to surf!

I finally found the original wheels for my 1974 Raleigh Professional. Now, I need to get them cleaned up and put back on the bike.

Look what I found today! I had to clean him up a bit and his shirt will never be like new but this is just too funny. I don't remember having this at all. We must have bought it for the girls during the great bike ride across Iowa in 1992.

I had today off and the high was 47 degrees. I drove over to the reservoir, hoping to see lots of pelicans, geese, swans, and eagles like last year around this date. We were lucky last year. Today, all I saw was about a dozen eagles, a few mallards, and not a single pelican or swan. The outlet flow from the reservoir was quite a bit less so maybe that is the reason. This eagle looks like he is waiting for spring just like the rest of us.

We got 2 inches of new snow today. Chase loves to eat chunks of snow and Charlie sticks his nose into the snow in search of mice. He actually catches them sometimes.

Yesterday, the wind was blowing out of the northwest at 20-30 mph. Today, everything on the south shore was covered with ice. This is one of my favorite photos of the day.

Today, I drove Mother to Burlington to see if her Great Grandmother's house was still standing. She remembered right where it was, across the street from the Christian church where she played the organ for Sunday services.

Since we finally have snow now, I started feeding the birds. The feeder has been pretty crowded the last few days.

The girls had these matching nightgowns when they were little. They loved The Beauty and the Beast and wore them as often as they could.

It snowed about 5 inches while I was gone on Saturday. A lot of it has already melted but today was picture perfect!

Mother sent me this photo she took. Gotta love the coots at the lake! They must be enjoying the morning sun shining on them and a rest out of the cold water.

I wasn't going to purchase any super bowl souvenirs but they were marked down already! I got 2 of these mugs.

Another great day on the bike trail. It was still in the high 50's with partly cloudy skies. I rode another 25 miles today.

For my first full day in Indy, I was welcomed with temperatures in the mid 50's! I rode about 30 miles from home up until the trail turned to gravel. There were quite a few people out enjoying the weather.

It was another beautiful January day. I made all the spoiled cats spend the day outside in hopes of easing their cabin fever.

The high temperature for today was 65 degrees, breaking the previous record of 61. Unfortunately, I had to work but was able to get home soon enough to take the dogs for a long walk.

I found several of these envelopes containing Sierra's teeth that she left for the tooth fairy. I'm glad she took the time to date this one. Classic Sierra...........I am sooo glad I found these!

Another found Octoginta t-shirt, this time from 1976.

I found this t-shirt from the 1975 Octoginta bike ride in Lawrence, Kansas. This ride is still being held each October. The small print on the shirt reads, "An eighty mile bike tour of northeast Kansas, October 11-12"

My t-shirt from the 1980 Biking Across Kansas or BAK. This ride started in June of 1975 and is still being held. I went on this ride several times, west to east and one year from south to north state lines.

While cleaning, I found the poster of the bike ride I did in 1998. It was to benefit the American Lung Association and I rode in memory of my Daddy, Jean Lee Brandt, who died of emphysema on July 9, 1994.
